Trumpet Tune and Air
Trumpet Tune and Air
SKU: ATG10070A
Trumpet Tune and Air was long attributed to Henry Purcell, but research suggests it was actually composed by Jeremiah Clarke. The confusion likely arose because Clarke and Daniel Purcell (Henry Purcell’s relative) collaborated on the music for The Island Princess (1699), where the famous Trumpet Tune in D originated.
This Baroque work was originally composed for keyboard (harpsichord or organ) and trumpet. Over time, it has been adapted for string quartet and other ensembles.
Anthony Galla-Rini has arranged this work for:
accordion 1-4 parts have orchestra names (1st trumpet, 2nd trumpet, 3rd trumpet, trombone) plus timpani.
