Tortoises (from "The Carnival of Animals")
Tortoises (from "The Carnival of Animals")
SKU: ATG10067A
Tortoises is the fourth movement from Camille Saint-Saëns' The Carnival of the Animals, composed in 1886. This humorous suite features fourteen movements, each representing different animals.
In Tortoises, Saint-Saëns cleverly slows down the famous "Galop infernal" (commonly known as the Can-can) from Jacques Offenbach's operetta Orpheus in the Underworld. The result is a comically sluggish rendition, perfectly capturing the slow and deliberate movement of tortoises.
Anthony Galla-Rini has scored this work for:
accordions 1-4 with accordion 4 being a bass line.
