The Silver Fern March (Accordion Orchestra arrangement) by Gary Daverne Catalog ED0046 was composed in 2013 as a follow up to the success of his composition Auckland March.
The Silver Fern March was original scored for brass and military bands but had its Premiers with a massed accordion orchestra, at the 2014 Australian International Accordion Championships in Sydney, by the Australian Accordion Teachers Association (AATA) 20th Anniversary Celebration Orchestra of about 50 players, conducted by Lionel Reekie.
In the same year (2014), it was performed in Auckland at the Bruce Mason Centre, by the Auckland Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Thomas, performed in their two, Last Night of the Proms concerts.
