Ornamentation (inverted mordant) is used in this popular melody, which requires a strong rhythmic drive for effective performance. A bagpipe drone is used in the bass to provide a national flavor. The interplay of 1st and 2nd accordion melodies provides a dramatic interpretation to this well-known Scottish folk tune.
