Famous melody by Enrnesto Lecuona. Malagueña is the sixth and final movement of Suite Andalucía, composed in 1933 by Ernesto Lecuona, one of Cuba’s most celebrated pianists and composers. The suite contains six pieces inspired by Andalusian places and musical idioms, and Malagueña specifically evokes the city and musical style of Málaga.

Malagueña is by far the most famous movement of the suite and one of Lecuona’s most recognizable works. Over the decades it has been:

  • Transcribed for orchestra, guitar, band, solo voice, and more

  • Performed by classical pianists, flamenco guitarists, orchestras and even big‑band jazz groups
