Intermezzo (A Love Story) is the best‑known composition by Austrian composer Heinz Provost, written for the 1936 Swedish film Intermezzo and later reused in the 1939 Hollywood remake. It became internationally famous as a lyrical, romantic theme for violin and piano, and it remains Provost’s signature work.
