Chuperlika: Duet

Performers will hear the connection with Near Eastern music in this example from Greece. In seven-eight meter, the rhythmic asymmetry provides a challenge to both performers as melody and countermelody weave through short motives that gradually build while the tempo increases in sheer virtuosic display.
